Weeks after being sent back to the government for reconsideration by state governor R N Ravi, the Tamil Nadu Assembly on Thursday unanimously approved the measure to outlaw online gambling.
Chief Minister M K Stalin, who was in charge of the measure, said that he was moving it with a “sad heart” in reference to the lives lost. Numerous people supposedly committed suicide after losing money at internet casinos.
A number of members spoke in favour of the bill and against Governor Ravi’s decision to return it.
