On Friday, Union Minister Smriti Irani met President Draupadi Murmu, a day after party leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury led the charge against the Congress for its ‘Rashtrapati’ remarks.
A major political conflict started over Chowdhury’s ‘Rashtrapatni’ comment. Chowdhury is the Congress leader in the Lok Sabha.
The BJP launched an all-out attack on the Congress and accused Chaudhary of “intentionally sexist insults” to President Murmu. He never meant to disrespect the President and his ‘Rastra Patni’ comment was a “slip of the tongue”.
He later demanded an apology from Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
