Siliguri receives a quality healthcare provider in Medica North Bengal Clinic

In November 2007, the city of Siliguri received a quality healthcare provider when Medica North Bengal Clinic opened its doors as the region’s first Multispecialty Hospital. Eventually, keeping in mind, the patient’sneeds, Medica Group of Hospitals launched another specialized Medica Cancer Hospital in Rangapani near Siliguri. It was the only Cancer Hospital in North Bengal to provide all services under one roof. The advanced cancer care hospital was able to successfully fill a massive void in the region’s healthcare facility, which lacked cutting-edge radiation therapy as part of comprehensive cancer treatment. As a result, the patient had to travel to faraway places for reliable treatment with its attending logistics, and social and financial difficulties.

However, recently, Medica Cancer Hospital in Rangapani has added the Halcyon radiotherapy machine with image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) to its extensive array of advanced services. The Halcyon system has numerous advantages, including automated treatment, patient comfort, ease of use for the oncology team, and an accelerated installation timeframe with a shorter time between installation and the first treatment without compromising quality. Medica also intends to launch several distinct expansion-focused projects at the Siliguri facility over the next three to five years. The building’s underlying infrastructure will be completely renovated during this refurbishment. To attain the desired level of efficiency in terms of both the flow of work and the technologies employed, the infrastructure needs to be brought up to date. The purpose is to provide specialized, high-quality medical care to people in northern Bengal, Darjeeling, parts of Bihar and Assam, and Nepal. Futureplans highlight the growth of tertiary care in the Siliguri center, as well as the expansion of existing facilities, including surgical and oncology facilities for the cancer hospital, on 4 acres of land with a 200-crore investment. The Siliguri Hospital currently has a total patient capacity of 200 beds & the plan is to expand by 200 more in the coming years.

Speaking about Medica group & the Siliguri hospitals, Dr. Alok Roy, Chairman of Medica Group of Hospitals, said, “Medica North Bengal Clinic, Siliguri, and Medica Cancer Hospital, Rangapani are the first of many Medica Group ventures in which we have enhanced services through our groundbreaking approach and cutting-edge technology.  The cornerstone of Medica is advanced, ethical, and accessible healthcare for all.
