Siliguri, Jan 13: A robbery took place at a government bank in Fulbari near Siliguri on Friday night. The incident came to light when bank employees arrived on Monday and found the bank’s rear gate broken and several items scattered in the premises.
The bank was closed on Saturday and Sunday and when it opened on Monday, the employees immediately reported the theft to the NJP police station. Police reached the spot soon after the report.
According to the bank management, no money was stolen from the bank, though four computers have been reported missing. The bank manager claimed that the safe has not been tampered with. Authorities have begun investigating the incident.
Also, an ATM is located on the ground floor of the building in which the bank operates. The thieves entered through the broken rear gate of the building and moved to the upper floor. CCTV footage has been recovered from the bank, which shows two masked men entering the premises at 11:18 pm on Friday.
The NJP police is investigating the case thoroughly and awaiting further details.
