West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee named Shatrughan Sinha as the Trinamool Congress (TMC) contender for the bypolls in Asansol parliamentary seat and Babul Supriyo for the Ballygunge Assembly seat.
“Glad to report for the All India Trinamool Congress that Sri Shatrughan Sinha, previous Union Minister and popular entertainer, will be our applicant in Loksabha by-political race from Asansol,” Banerjee tweeted, declaring Sinha’s candidature.
“Sri Babul Supriyo, previous association serve and referenced vocalist, will be our up-and-comer in Vidhansabha by-political decision from Ballygunge. Jai Hind, Jai Bangla, Jai Ma-Mati-Manush!” the central priest added in a subsequent tweet.
Supriyo, who was once as of not long ago an individual from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), had surrendered as the Asansol Lok Sabha MP.
“I won’t clutch the Berth/Perks/Salary of a MP now that I am presently not a period of @BJP4India that I got the seat for. Assuming that I have it in me, will win it once more,” he had said at that point, in a tweet offering thanks to Om Birla, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
Shatrughan Sinha is challenging from the TMC to top off that seat.
The Ballygunge Assembly seat, which Supriyo will be hoping to win, became empty after Subrata Mukherjee, who was a Cabinet serve in the Banerjee government, gave away in November 2021.
