Sanjay Raut, leader of Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena faction, today tweeted that Rahul Gandhi called him and asked about his health, amid a row over the Congress leader’s comments attacking Veer Savarkar.
Sanjay Raut tweeted in Marathi, “Rahul called me at night even though he was busy with Bharat Jodo Yatra. He asked about my health, said ‘we were worried about you. It is only human to feel sorry for a political friend framed in a false case and tortured for 110 days in jail,”.
He followed it up with a longer post in English. Mr. Raut wrote,” Inspite of strong differences of opinion on some issues, inquiring on your political college is a sign of humanity!
During his busy schedule of #BharatJodo Yatra, Rahul ji Gandhi called yest’day to inquire abt my health.”We were worried for you” he said.
I appreciate his empathy of feeling the pain of a political colleague who has spent 110 days in jail. In d times of political bitterness, such gestures are becoming rare. Rahulji is focusing on love & compassion in his Yatra and hence it is getting a massive response.”.
