S. S. Rajamouli’s film RRR earns $5 million on day one in US

Indian film director and screenwriter Koduri Srisaila Sri Rajamouli, professionally known as S. S. Rajamouli’s much-awaited film RRR hit a big record in the West. The movie features Ram Charan and Jr NTR together for the first time on screen.

The film RRR is a fictional story set in the 1920s pre-independent era. It is based on the lives of two real heroes and well-known revolutionaries including Alluri Sitarama Raju played by Ram Charan and Komaram Bheem played by Jr NTR. It is a tale of revenge. The film has been made on a budget of over 300 crore. The movie had a grand release on 25th March worldwide on a record number of screens. The film has been dubbed and released in Hindi. It also stars Ajay Devgan, Samuthirakani, Shriya Saran and Alia Bhatt.

Film analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted:

The film has earned $5million on its first day and set to register $15 million on opening weekend in the U.S. RRR became the first Indian film to earn the $3 million club from its premieres. In the US the movie is eyeing to close opening weekend at $15 million.
