Actually the meeting witnessed the participation of various political parties, officials from the Forest Department, and key stakeholders invested in resolving the issue. Following this, the Mayor actually revealed that the source of the smog is the burning of dry leaves in forest areas. However, he emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to determine the root causes of these fires.
In fact to ensure security measures against such incidents, Mayor Gautam Deb announced plans for another crucial meeting on Wednesday. This meeting will include discussions with the Police Commissioner and the Fire Department to devise effective strategies for controlling fires and safeguarding public health in Siliguri.
