Superstar Rajinikanth, who went on a spiritual trip to the Himalayas ahead of the release of his movie ‘Jailer’, landed at the Chennai airport on Monday evening.
Rajinikanth thanked everyone for making Jailer a huge success and clarified why he touched the feet of 51-year-old Yogi Adityanath, who is 20 years his junior, during his visit to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister’s official residence in Lucknow on August 19.
“It is my practice to fall at the feet of yogis or monks, even if they are younger than me, and I have done that,” he told reporters at the airport.
The 72-year-old actor’s act of touching the feet of CM Yogi Adityanath, who is also the head priest of the Gorakhnath Math, has sparked a huge furore among his fans.
During Rajinikanth’s visit to Lucknow, a special screening of Jeller was organized for the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh which was later attended by the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.
The Tamil actor, after a visit to the Himalayas, visited Ayodhya and other places and met leaders including UP Governor Anandiben Patel, Samajwadi Party leader and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and visited Jharkhand to meet Governor C P Radhakrishnan, a senior member of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Tamil Nadu.
