Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying his federalism was “coercive, not cooperative”.
His comments came a day after Modi flagged high fuel prices in many opposition-ruled states and called for a reduction in VAT “in the national interest” to benefit the common man and work in the spirit of cooperative federalism during this global crisis.
“High Fuel prices – blame states. Coal shortage – blame states. Oxygen shortage – blame states,” he said in a tweet.
Center collects 68% of all fuel taxes. Still, the Prime Minister resigned. Modi’s federalism is not cooperative. It is coercive,” Gandhi said.
