Puducherry records fresh COVID-19 cases

Union Territory of Puducherry reported 91 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.


Fresh 9 COVID-19 cases were reported on Monday.

91 cases were detected during the testing of 2,520 samples, Health Director G Sriramulu said in a release.

Puducherry region accounted for 65 of the 91 cases, followed by Karaikal with 19 and Yanam (7).

Mahe, an enclave in Kerala’s Puducherry, has not reported any new cases, the director said.

The Union Territory’s COVID-19 caseload rose to 1,66,923 with 91 new infections added. Fifty patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the overall number of recoveries has risen to 1,64,419, the director said.

The number of active cases stood at 542, he said, with eight patients in hospital and the remaining 534 in-home quarantine.

No new deaths were reported from any of the four regions and the death toll remained at 1,962.
