Two bodybuilders Puskar Gurung from Darjeeling and Sonam Tamang from Kurseong were honored at a function held at a hotel in Kurseong under the auspices of Kurseong Sub-Divisional Body Building and Fitness Association. Both major builders were honored with trophies. According to the information received, Puskar Gurung who won the title of Over All Champion in the Bermuda Model category of Men’s Physique held in Assam in February 2021 had received a professional card from the World Fitness Federation at the IFA Classic Championship held in Assam in February 2021. With this card, he can go to any country in the world and participate in the competition. Pushkar Gurung, the first major bodybuilder to receive a professional card from the Darjeeling hills was honored at the ceremony. Similarly, Sonam Tamang,who has been selected for the Asian World Fitness Federation Body Building , was also honored. The function was presided over by Sanjay Chhetri and conducted by Chirag Tiwari.
Secretary Basanta Thapa delivered the welcome address at the ceremony. President of Kurseong Gorkha Hill Sports Association Mohan Yonjan, Mahendra Rai, Deepak Thatal, Devraj Bhandari, Om Prakash Chaurasia, and Chopel Tenzing were also present on the occasion.
