Rajganj, Dec 18: Women of Pramila Bahini have lodged a mass complaint at Bhorer Alo police station in Rajganj against the opening of a government licensed liquor shop in their area.
Women from Sahudangi, Shibnath Para, Baniyapara, Birban and surrounding areas of Binnaguri gram panchayat in Rajganj block lodged the complaint on Wednesday.
The women claimed that the liquor shop will open near Canal Mor in Sahudangi. They expressed serious concern over the shop being located near several government and private schools in the area. The group feared that the liquor shop will have a negative impact on the environment and increase the tendency of drug abuse among young children.
The women also raised security concerns and said that if the shop is allowed to remain open, it will become difficult for them to pass through the area after dark. They also feared an increase in domestic disputes due to the availability of alcohol in the area.
