India will hoist a new naval flag that will retire a British colonial symbol for the official debut of the country’s first regionally built aircraft carrier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office said.
Elements of the current flag include a prominent pass of St. George, the nationwide flag of England and a legacy of India’s 9 long period as a crown dependency, which ended with independence in 1947.
