The state is still facing the issue of teacher recruitment. Earlier, former education minister Partha Chatterjee and former board chairman Manik Bhattacharya were arrested. Partha Chatterjee, who was arrested in the recruitment case, was not produced even though the case was scheduled to be heard last Friday due to technical complications and a misunderstanding between the court and jail authorities. Partha Chatterjee will have to appear in court on Monday as he did not appear on Friday.
Partha Chatterjee was ordered to be remanded in jail till October 28 in an earlier hearing. At the same time, Kalyanmoy Gangopadhyay, and Subiresh Bhattacharya are also expected to appear in court. Last time, the next hearing on the part of the court i.e. on October 28 ordered Partha Chatterjee to appear in court in person. But according to the sources, the Presidency Jail authorities requested to present Perth in a virtual hearing. The application letter arrived on Friday morning and the misunderstanding began from there.
In fact, Partha Chatterjee could not be made to appear in court in any way today. On one hand, the virtual hearing link was not working, on the other hand, he was not even taken to court. Parthar’s lawyer immediately applied for his bail as he did not appear in any way. It is contended that no person can be detained without virtual or physical presence. This argument did not hold up in court.
