At the 28th State Carrom Championship, which took place in Siliguri, young carrom player Papiya Biswas of Siliguri took first place in the women’s division. The Jatiya Shakti Sangha and Pathagar Club in Ward No. 05 hosted the five-day competition, which started on November 6 and ended on Sunday. With 137 contestants, the competition included players as young as 12 and as old as 21, as well as players as elderly as 50.
Members of the Income Tax Department and the Life Insurance Corporation of India participated in the tournament together with local players from seven districts. The top three winners in each category received trophies when the tournament came to an end.By taking the top spot in the women’s division, Papiya Biswas triumphed. Pradeep Kumar Agrahi of the Income Tax Department claimed the men’s championship in the open category.
