A number of opposition politicians, including former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, criticised the government on Wednesday in response to a media story that claimed a significant Adani Group investor is also a co-owner of the conglomerate in a defence company.
Gandhi questioned why handing over management of vital defence assets to unidentified foreign corporations “compromised” India’s national security.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also questioned by the Opposition about why he was “sacrificing India’s national security interests for the financial interests” of friends.
