One died due to food poisoning in Siliguri, four admitted to hospital

Siliguri, May 21: One person from a family died and four were admitted to hospital in a tragic incident of food poisoning in Siliguri. The affected family, residents of Suryasen Colony, Ward 34 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, fell ill after consuming contaminated food.
It is being told that the incident took place in Manoj Karmakar’s house, where fish and vegetables were being prepared. Manoj Karmakar, his wife, two sons and a daughter all had the meal. His health deteriorated overnight, due to which he had to take medicine, although Manoj Karmakar did not do so.
When his condition worsened, the family members admitted him to Siliguri District Hospital on Sunday. Sadly, Manoj Karmakar passed away on Monday morning. His elder son was shifted to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) in a critical condition, while his wife, daughter and younger son are undergoing treatment at Siliguri District Hospital.
Toto driver Manoj Karmakar lived in a rented house in Suryasen Colony. After the incident, Ward No. 34 councilor Biman Tapdar visited the hospital on Monday evening. There is a wave of mourning in the area due to this tragic incident.
