NLC India Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Coal, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) to develop a 1,000 MW solar power project in Assam.
According to a press release, the MoU is for setting up a joint venture company with 51% equity participation by NLCIL and 49% equity participation by APDCL.
According to reports, the signing was done by NLCIL Director (Planning and Projects) K Mohan Reddy and APDCL Managing Director R Kumar in the presence of Union Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralahad Joshi. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma and Rakesh Kumar, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NLCIL, in Dispur on Tuesday.
Mr. Prahlad Joshi mentioned that this initiative will be a development opportunity for the state of Assam and at the same time will contribute to the renewable energy needs of the country.
