Siliguri, May 12: Members of the North Bengal State Transport Employees Union on Monday staged a sit-in protest at the North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) depot in Siliguri demanding a long-pending wage hike.
According to the workers, the wages of drivers have been revised while other employees have been left out of the hike. They claimed that the lack of a wage hike for a long time is leading to financial hardship.
As a result of the protest, bus services in Siliguri were partially disrupted, causing inconvenience to commuters. The union members warned that if their demands were not heeded, they would turn the agitation into a major one in the coming days.
