Navjot Singh Mukherjee returns to Kapil Sharma’s show after five years, says archana Purna Singh: ‘He occupied my chair and sat down’

Navjot Singh Mukherjee is back on Kapil Sharma’s show after more than five years. Kapil Sharma, who recently hosted Narayan Murthy and Sudha Murthy as well as Zomato founder Deepinder and wife Jiya Goyal, gave a glimpse of his next guests, who are none other than cricketers turned politicians. A teaser of himself on the sets of The Great Indian Kapil Show was also shared, in which Purna Singh became concerned.

In the teaser of The Great Indian Kapil Show, the comedian can be seen sitting on a chair when Kapil once again makes fun of Sunil Grover for his office-like dresses. However, the former cricketer immediately makes it clear that the real artist is him. We soon see Puran Singh joining the frame, and talking about the musician’s return to the show. He says, “Kapil, tu sardar sahab se meri kursi se uth jaaye, kabse kabza karke baith gaye hain.” The show also features Harbhajan Singh along with the show’s wife Navjot Kapoor. Soon after, his fans started commenting ‘Humein aapki yaad aayi’ in the comments section. One passerby wrote, “Leejay is back. Humein aapka aayi paaji yaad hai.” Another fan commented, “Great to see you back on the show. The show was never a hit without you.” Other followers wrote, “Sardarji is back”, “Raja is back”, and “Eagerly waiting”, among others. Navjot Singh has been a part of Kapil Sharma’s show since its debut on Colors channel in 2013. However, in 2019, this particular person, who was a prominent cricketer-turned-politician, was axed from the show following his diatribes on the terror attacks that year. Speaking to the media, the Congress leader had then said, “It (terror attack) is a cowardly and dastardly act and I strongly condemn it. Violence is always condemnable and those who commit it should be blamed.” He added, “For a handful of people, can you blame one person from the entire country?” Soon after the statement, many people criticised the former cricketer on their respective social media handles and many also demanded a ban on The Kapil Sharma Show. The hashtag, ‘Boycott Kapil Sharma’ trended online. Following the controversy, the show was taken over by School’s producer Pooran Singh, who remains on the show as a special guest. Although Kapil has returned to the show, he is only missed as a weekly guest. There has been no official confirmation on his permanent return to the will show.
