Mumbai: Kurla building collapse death count rises to fourteen

At least 14 people were killed and 13 injured after a portion of a ground-plus-three-storey structure collapsed in Mumbai’s Kurla-East on Monday night.

The other part of the building was also in shaky condition and officials said that this part too would collapse.
The dead and injured were taken to the civilian-run Rajawadi Sanatorium in Ghatkopar and Sion Hospital.


The deceased have been identified as Ajay Paspore (28), Prahlad Gaikwad (65), Arvind Rajendra Bharti (19), Kishore Prajapati (20), Sikandar Rajbhar (21), Leelabai Gaikwad (60), Ramesh Badia (50),Anup Rajbhar (18), Anil Yadav (21), Shyam Prajapati (18), Ajinka. Gaikwad (34),Guddu Paspore (22) and two unidentified persons aged 30 and 35.

Rebel Shiv Sena MLA Mangesh Kudalkar expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of those who lost their lives in the incident and Rs 1 lakh for the injured.
