Siliguri, October 08: Tension prevailed at Gandhi More in Siliguri on Tuesday when a mob caught a chain snatcher red-handed and thrashed him. The accused miscreant was later taken into custody by the Bhakti Nagar police.
It is being reported that a woman was walking on Gandhi More when two men on a two-wheeler without a number plate snatched her gold chain and tried to escape. The woman’s screams for help alerted the locals, who immediately chased the criminals. One miscreant managed to escape, while the other was caught and beaten up by the angry mob.
Meanwhile, the police immediately reached the spot and rescued the accused from the mob. The injured person was taken to a nearby hospital. The police have started investigating the case and are currently searching for the second accused.
