Medica North Bengal Clinic, a unit of the Manipal Hospitals Group, marked World Environment Day 2025 with a tree plantation drive and sapling distribution in Pradhan Nagar, reinforcing its commitment to community health and environmental sustainability. The event was graced by Ward Councillor Smt. Gargi Chatterjee, who applauded the hospital’s proactive role in promoting eco-conscious values.
As part of the initiative, saplings were handed over to 25 nearby shopkeepers to promote local engagement in creating a greener Siliguri. Hospital Director Sanjay Singha Mahapatra said, “We believe health and the environment are deeply connected. A cleaner, greener world directly impacts community well-being and the quality of life for future generations.”
World Environment Day, celebrated on June 5 globally, comes amid growing concern over pollution and climate change, particularly in urban centres like Siliguri, where public health is closely linked to environmental quality. Siliguri, a bustling commercial hub, welcomed the initiative as timely. Local traders expressed hope that such green efforts would improve air quality and contribute to a more pleasant urban experience for both residents and visitors.
