Siliguri, 2nd August (Retd.). A debate has broken out between the mayor and the saints of the ashram over the allegation of land encroachment in the Ramakrishna Mission located in Matigara. Reportedly, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb visited Ramakrishna Mission on Friday afternoon.
According to reports, during the meeting, Ashram Secretary Swami Binyanand provided detailed information to Mayor Deb regarding the alleged encroachment on the entire 9.90 acres of land in Matigara. It was revealed that many people had taken the land in their names.
Recently, Darjeeling district administration officials including the mayor and police commissioner were informed about the matter in a letter by the ashram authorities. On receiving the letter, Mayor Gautam Deb reached the Ashram on Thursday to discuss the matter with the Ashram officials.
In this regard, the Mayor said that all the information about the matter will be given to the concerned authorities. Meanwhile, Ashram officials were satisfied with the assurance given by the Mayor during the discussion.
