Siliguri, June 22: Taking prompt action, Matigara police station has arrested five miscreants who were planning to commit a major crime. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and arrested Manmohan Barman, Saurav Das, Kunal Singha, Manik Barman and Bolai Barman – all residents of Bagdogra, Phansidewa and Matigara areas of Siliguri.
Reportedly, the police recovered a dagger, two iron rods and a torch from the suspects. Secret information indicated that a group of youth had gathered at the Phansidewa Mod railway underpass with the intention of carrying out some major criminal incident.
The patrol van of the Matigara police immediately took action, resulting in the arrest of five persons, although some managed to escape under the cover of darkness. The arrested suspects were presented in Siliguri court on Saturday.
