Siliguri: Pradhan Nagar police arrested a man from Siliguri Junction area on Thursday night who was allegedly trying to smuggle illicit liquor to Bihar. The accused has been identified as Mukund Madhav, a resident of Samastipur in Bihar.
Acting on a tip-off, undercover officers conducted an operation and arrested the accused while he was waiting for a bus to Bihar. On searching his bag, police recovered 48 bottles of liquor meant for smuggling.
Mukund Yadav was produced in Siliguri court on Friday. Police have launched a full-fledged investigation into the case.
