Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray tried to resign twice, Sharad Pawar stopped him: Sources

According to sources, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray wanted to resign on Monday, June 27. The Chief Minister wanted to announce this decision through social media at 5 pm today.
According to the source, NCP chief Sharad Pawar convinced Uddhav Thackeray not to resign as Maharashtra Chief Minister. The chief minister tried to resign for the second time but was understandably opposed by politician Sharad Pawar.

Last week, Uddhav Thackeray had said that he was ready to quit as Chief Minister if the rioting Shiv Sena MLAs wanted it. The Maharashtra chief minister also claimed that he was ready to drop the Shiv Sena chief’s submissions if the legislators so desired.

“I am also interested in giving up the Shiv Sena chief’s publication. My Shiv Sainiks should let me know this and I will stop every post. But come face to face and tell me,” Thackeray said.

Uddhav Thackeray’s announcement comes after the political turmoil deepened in Maharashtra when several MLAs along with Eknath Shinde rebelled against parties, throwing the tripartite MVA government comprising the Sena, NCP and Congress into a crisis.

Meanwhile, in a huge relief from the Shinde camp, the Supreme Court on Monday adjourned the disqualification proceedings against the riot legislators till July 11.

After the court order, sources said the Shinde group is likely to maneuver the Maharashtra governor soon to withdraw support from the Maha Vikas Aghadi government. Army rebels are probably pushing for a no-confidence motion against the Uddhav Thackeray-led government.
