Three years have passed since the process of construction of an alternative bridge for Sevoke’s Coronation Bridge began. But till now the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of this project has not been ready. It is noteworthy that from the year 2019, the paper process of constructing an alternative bridge for the servant started.
There are frequent delays in inviting tenders from agencies for the preparation of ‘DPR’. The leaders of the Sevoke bridge movement are saying that in this way the danger of Sevak’s Baghpool is increasing. According to engineers of the State Public Works Department, if an agency starts work from November, it may take at least six months to prepare a ‘DPR’ for the hundreds of crores project.
Public Works Department officials said that the process of hiring the company is underway. October was the last day to submit applications for tenders. A cost of Rs 22 crore has been mentioned for the construction of the DPR of about six and a half kilometer bridges and to oversee the project as the monitoring agency.
It is reported that the central government has no plans to start projects worth hundreds of crores before the next financial year.
Local MP Jayanta Roy said, ‘I asked about the proposed bridge in Parliament. So in response, the minister concerned said that funds for the project can be allocated in the next financial year.
