Phulbari, Feb 24: Overflowing drain water in Haripur near Ambikanagar under Fulbari I has turned the road into a drain, causing a lot of inconvenience to the locals and they have expressed their anger over the issue.
According to reports, the locals have been grappling with the drain problem for years and have complained to the panchayat pradhan several times seeking a solution. Despite their pleas, no action has been taken and the situation has worsened. The residents complain that they have to pass through dirty water daily and the unbearable stench has made their life difficult.
The locals claim that they did not receive any help even after contacting the pradhan and the pradhan reportedly said that he does not even recognise the residents of his area.
Frustrated with the inaction, the residents have warned that they will stage an agitation if the road is not repaired and proper drainage system is not implemented immediately.
Panchayat member Supriya Biswas said that complaints were made to the Pradhan several times, but no work was done.
After this, the Zilla Parishad has now been informed about the matter. Meanwhile, Pradhan Sunita Roy responded saying that work cannot be done in all areas simultaneously.
She said that projects are completed in a phased manner and there has been a delay due to some issues. However, she assured that work will start soon and the problem will be resolved.
