Let’s Make Local “Global”, Raise Prestige Of Indian Products: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that India’s export target of US$ 400 billion this fiscal year indicates that demand for its gadgets is increasing across the world and stressed that when every Indian adopts a ‘voice for the local’, it does not take one. The Prime Minister also appreciated the upward push in the market of AYUSH products and related start-ups and urged the entrepreneurs to try to develop their portals in all languages.

“Promote your statistics keeping such countries in mind as well. I am sure that soon, AYUSH start-ups from India with superior quality products will rule the world,” he said.


Appreciating the usability of Indian products, he said its strength base is the country’s farmers, artisans, weavers, engineers, micro-entrepreneurs, MSME quarter and many unique professions.

“It is only because of their challenging work that the USD 400 billion export objective has been implemented and I am happy that this power of the people of India is now gaining new markets in every nook and corner of the world,” said the Chief Minister.


“When every Indian speaks up for the local, it doesn’t take long for the local to become global. Let’s make the local ‘global’ and raise the profile of our products further,” he said.

He said that India reaching the export target of USD 400 billion, i.e. Rs 30 lakh crore, in the first instance, will probably come as a calculation related to the economy, but it is related to India’s capabilities.

In a way, the power that the demand for India-made gadgets is growing across the world and India’s supply chain is improving day by day, Modi said.

He emphatically states that when the determination is bigger than dreams, the country takes brilliant steps.

Note that new products from all corners of the U. s reaching a foreign shore, Modi said leather-based products from Assam’s Hailakandi, textile products from Osmanabad, fruits and vegetables from Bijapur and black rice from Chandauli.
“Now, you can find Ladakh’s world-famous apricots in Dubai too, and in Saudi Arabia, you can find bananas shipped from Tamil Nadu. Most importantly, an array of new merchandise is being shipped to more modern countries,” he said.

Exports for the April-March period of 2021-22 increased by 37 per cent to USD 400 billion to USD 292 billion in 2020-21.

For the first time, India’s merchandise exports crossed USD 400 billion in a fiscal year. In 2018-19, the outward remittance touched a record of USD 330.07 billion.

In his remarks, he also highlighted that the government has purchased gadgets worth over Rs 1 lakh crore in the last one year through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal.
About 1.25 lakh small entrepreneurs and shopkeepers from every corner of the United States offered their products directly to the government, he noted.

“There was a time when only big companies could want to sell items to the government. However, the United States is now changing; Historical buildings are also changing. Now even the smallest shopkeeper can promote an item to the government on the GEM portal, this is the new India,” Modi said.

The AYUSH industry market has grown to Rs 22,000 crore from around Rs 1.40 lakh crore six years ago, Modi noted.

In his speech, Modi also paid tribute to Jyoti Rao Phule and BR Ambedkar, who each have birth anniversaries in April, and Phule’s wife Savitribai Phule, also a social reformer. He recalled their contribution to society.
