Kolkata: A blaze broke out at 1:30am, causing twenty fire engines to break down, taking seven hours to bring it under control

A major fire broke out in Kolkata’s Lohapatty area on Thursday, August 22, 2024, causing several warehouses to be destroyed.

Twenty fire engines battled a blaze that broke out at around 1:30 am for approximately seven hours to bring it under control.

A fire broke out at a plastic storage godown and spread to nearby warehouses in a congested area near Maniktala, causing significant destruction.

Five godowns were burned to the ground, but no injuries were reported during the fire.

Officials stated that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but it will be determined after a thorough investigation.

An officer stated that the cooling process is ongoing and they hope to complete their job within 30-40 minutes.
