Under India’s G20 Presidency, the 3rdFramework Working Group is being convened from June 13-14 2023, in Kochi, Kerala. The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. V. Ananth Nageswaran, Chief Economic Adviser, Union Ministry of Finance, and Tom Hemingway, Deputy Director of the Treasury. The meeting focused on global macroeconomic issues, with representatives of the G20 and various international organizations discussing the current economic outlook. Over 75 delegates from G-20 member states, invited countries and various international and regional organizations attended.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current global economic outlook, the macroeconomic impact of food and energy insecurity, and the macroeconomic impact of climate change and transition pathways. It also sought to explore areas where global cooperation could help support countries’ domestic efforts. The second day of the meeting will feature a panel discussion on “Financial Globalization – Opportunities and Risks” moderated by Cornell University professor Ishwar Prasad.
The delegates were taken on the Kochi Water Metro and enjoyed performances by local artists during a cultural event on Monday night. Additionally, various programs were planned to give them a glimpse of the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Kochi.
