Kharibari, October 19: As per the programme announced by the State Congress, the Kharibari Block Congress gheraoed the Kharibari Police Station and submitted a memorandum regarding their demands.
After taking out a march from the Kharibari Block Congress office, Congress leaders and workers demonstrated in front of the police station, where they submitted a memorandum of seven specific demands.
Block president Alok Kumar Roy stressed the need to take serious note of complaints of atrocities on women and rape and said police should work according to law instead of political affiliation. He also urged police to take a proactive stand against drug and sand smuggling in the Kharibari area.
