Khalpada police busts e-rickshaw theft racket with the help of detained mastermind, two detained

Siliguri, August 26: Khalpara outpost police officers have busted a major theft gang and arrested two persons for purchasing stolen e-rickshaws. Accused Joy Sarkar was arrested from Bidhannagar and Mohammad Zaheerul Alam from Bihar. It is noteworthy that the police have recovered two stolen e-rickshaws from their possession.
Notably, a series of e-rickshaw thefts in Khalpara area had raised concerns among local residents. During investigation, Khalpara police identified Deep Chhetri, who was already arrested by Siliguri police on charges of battery theft, as the mastermind of the theft. Subsequently, the Khalpara Police sought and received permission from the Siliguri Court to take Deep Chhetri on four-day remand for further questioning.
During this, Deep Chhetri revealed that Joy Sarkar and Mohammad Zaheerul Alam had bought stolen vehicles from him. Based on the information, Khalpara police arrested both the persons and presented them in Siliguri court. At present, the police have started a detailed investigation to find possible suspects involved in the case.
