Siliguri, August 13: Kamtapur Progressive Party organized a protest march in Siliguri on Tuesday in support of several demands. The march started from Mallagudi, passed through various areas and ended at Court More.
Major demands of the march included a petition to the state government to start teaching the Kamtapur language in schools and a demand for the central government to recognize Kamtapur as the eighth scheduled language. Additionally, the protesters called for the formation of the Narayani Sena Regiment.
The march was led by Kamtapur Progressive Party President Amit Roy, who kept these issues at the center of his campaign.
