Kaali Controversy: Patna police refuses to lodge FIR against director and Mahua Moitra

State BJP Kala Cell convener Varun Kumar Singh on Thursday said that the Kotwali police had refused to file an FIR against his group against ‘Kali’ director Leena Manimekalai for issuing a poster of the film in which Maa Kali is seen smoking a cigarette.

Singh and his group decided to lodge an FIR against TMC MP Mahua Maitra who tweeted that Goddess Kali cherished meat and drink. Singh had earlier maintained to the Kotwali police that the film director and Maitra’s stance had hurt Hindu sentiments, but the Kotwali police were adamant and adamant in refusing to register an FIR. “We don’t want to file an FIR,” Singh said.

Kotwali police station SHO Sunil Kumar Singh told this newspaper that they cannot file an FIR as the dependency does not fall under their jurisdiction. “If they want to register a complaint, they have to go to court or file a case online. They want to register a complaint against the TMC chief and the filmmaker of Kali. We instructed them that they have to complain about motels in Mumbai and Kolkata,” he said.

The BJP convener then also went to meet DSP Sanjay Kumar but he also said that they cannot register an FIR.
