Siliguri, June 30: In a recent incident, a Jharkhand resident was arrested with an automatic pistol and a live cartridge by plainclothes police of Pradhan Nagar police station in Siliguri’s Mallaguri area on Sunday night.
The accused has been identified as Dheeraj Kumar, a resident of Jharkhand. On receiving information, police arrested him when he was roaming around the area with a weapon in a suspicious manner. An automatic pistol and a live cartridge were recovered from him.
Police suspect that the accused had come to Siliguri with the intention of carrying out a major robbery or snatching. He was produced in Siliguri court on Monday and further investigation into the case is underway.
