The BJP’s Gaya district unit conducted a purification ceremony at the Vishnupada temple amid controversy over a non-Hindu minister of the new Bihar government entering the sanctum sanctorum. On ThursdayBJP district unit president Dhanraj Sharma said, “We performed a ‘suddhikaran’ puja at my temple after offering prayers by fetching water from the Falgu river,”. On Wednesday, the Panda Samaj participants performed a puja and cleaned the temple sanctum with water from the Falgu river.
.
The controversy erupted after Bihar’s Communications and Information Technology Minister Mohammad Israil Mansuri entered the sanctum sanctorum of the Vishnupad temple during a visit to Gaya with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Sharma said, “The entry of a non-Hindu minister was once achieved deliberately to hurt the sentiments of Hindus,”. Sharma said the minister went inside for a long time despite orders outside the temple walls that non-Hindus would not be allowed to enter. A complaint was also filed in the Muzaffarpur Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Monday against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Mansuri and four others for using a social worker.
Danraj Sharma accused CM Nitish Kumar of insulting the Hindu faith and said Hindu neighbors will never forgive him.
Sharma told ANI, “Nitish Kumar knowingly took Mohammad Israel Mansoori inside the temple. He once stayed there for so long inside the ‘Garbhagriha’ (sanctuary). All this, while writing outside the premises says that non-Hindus are not allowed inside. It is a total insult to Hindus. Lord Vishnu will never forgive him. The time for his political resignation is near. Because of all this, we performed Shudhikaran Puja today,”.
