An Indian man has been arrested by the Delhi Police for allegedly killing an Australian woman in Queensland in 2018. Rajwinder Singh, who fled Australia after killing a woman, had a 1 million Australian dollar reward for his arrest.
According to the investigation, Rajwinder killed 24-year-old Toyah Cordingley because his dog barked at him.
Rajwinder Singh, 38, went to Wangetti Beach in Queensland after an argument with his wife. He told the Delhi Police that he was carrying some fruits and a kitchen knife with him.
Cordingley, a pharmacy worker, was walking with her dog on the beach. An argument ensues between the Rajwinder and Cordingley when Cordingley’s Dog starts barking at Rajwinder. This led to the Indian attacking and killing Cordingly, police said.
According to the report, the body is buried in sand and the dog is tied to a tree.
Rajwinder Singh fled to Australia two days later, leaving behind his job, wife and three children.
Interpol issued a red corner notice against Rajwinder after which a non-bailable warrant was issued by the Patiala House Court under the Extradition Act on November 21.
A senior police officer said that the CBI-based inputs shared by Interpol’s nodal agency in India and their Australian counterparts, arrested the accused from Delhi Police’s Special Cell GT Karnal Road.
After his arrest, a Delhi court sent Rajwinder Singh to five days of judicial custody.
