The Indian air pressure has said it has sacked three officers for accident firing a missile into Pakistan in March.
“The court of inquiry formed to determine the facts of the case including determining responsibility for the incident has found that deviation from the popular procedure by the three officials led to the unintended firing of the missile,” said the air force.
At the time of the unintended firing, India blamed a “technical malfunction” at some point of activities maintenance.
Military professionals have warned of the threat of accidents or miscalculations with the aid of the nuclear-armed neighbours, which have fought three wars and engaged in severa smaller armed clashes, typically over the disputed territory of Kashmir. The incident raised questions about security mechanisms.
Pakistani officers said the missile was unarmed and crashed close to the city of Mian Channu, about 310 miles (500km) from the capital, Islamabad.
