The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Friday successfully completed the maiden flight of a self-sustaining flying wing science from the aeronautical test range in Chitradurga, Karnataka.
DRDO officials said, “In a primary success in the direction of growing unmanned fight aircraft, the maiden flight of the Autonomous Flying Wing Technology Demonstrator was once carried out efficiently from the Aeronautical Test Range, Chitradurga, Karnataka today.”
Giving further important points on the flight, the DRDO in a statement said, “Operating in a totally self reliant mode, the aircraft exhibited a best flight, along with take-off, way point navigation and a smooth touchdown. This flight marks a principal milestone in phrases of proving essential technologies towards the development of future unmanned aircraft and is a widespread step towards self-reliance in such strategic defence technologies.”
The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is designed and developed by way of Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE), Bengaluru, a premier lookup laboratory below DRDO. It is powered through a small turbofan engine. The airframe, undercarriage and entire flight control and avionics structures used for the plane had been developed indigenously.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO on correctly carrying out the maiden flight of an unmanned flight aircraft.
He tweeted, “Congratulations to @DRDO_India on successful maiden flight of the Autonomous Flying Wing Technology Demonstrator from Chitradurga ATR. It is a predominant achievement toward self sustaining aircrafts which will pave the way for Aatmanirbhar Bharat in phrases of critical army systems.”
