Electronic goods catch fire in about 40 houses in South Shantinagar area in Siliguri on Friday afternoon. This incident occur when workers of the Electric department were cutting trees .As the workers from the Electric department went to the area to clear bushes and trees near electric poles when suddenly power outage occurred and electronic goods inside houses, including televisions, refrigerators and washing machines caught fire. People ran outside their homes and later they made a protest in front of the vehicle of the department and demanded compensation for the loss. The workers asked the locals to submit a written complaint about their loss to get compensation.
This is a very sad incident as for this type of mistake by Electric department made huge loss to the common people. Although people are asking for compensation and they are promised for it but still it is very painful for them. Electricity is very sensitive thing and people should be very careful from it. A little mistake can make a huge disaster and it will be very difficult to recover the situation. People should get the compensation and be careful in future so that they do not go through this type of situation.
