Following a one-day visit to the Pakyong district, Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur officially opened a new Integrated Multipurpose Hall constructed in collaboration with the Airport Authority of India. Governor Mathur attended the Alchem-Accessible Award Ceremony ‘Agaaz Plus’ in the recently opened facility as the main guest. The occasion brought attention to the Alchem Foundation’s and the Accessible Sanitation Club’s continuous initiatives to raise the quality of cleanliness in Sikkim’s public schools.
In order to lower student dropout rates, the organizations have concentrated on building locker rooms, expanding access to potable water, and upgrading sanitary facilities. These cleaning efforts were commended by Governor Mathur, who especially commended the installation of girls’ restrooms in schools. He linked these regional initiatives to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s larger Swachh Bharat Mission, pointing out that cleanliness has become a popular movement that benefits women in particular.
The Governor of Sikkim, Mathur, highlighted Sikkim’s environmental leadership through programs like Plastic-Free Sikkim and ‘Mero Rukh Mero Santati’. He attended the 8th National Seminar on Yoga and Naturopathy, highlighting its role in maintaining physical and mental health and strengthening natural connections. He also identified Sikkim as an ideal location for wellness tourism, citing its biodiversity and medicinal plant resources.
