Huge quantity of fake foreign liquor found in Siliguri, two arrested

Siliguri, 06 June (Retd): The Excise Department has seized a huge quantity of spurious foreign liquor in Siliguri, arresting two persons named Krishna Prasad from Siliguri and Varun Kumar from Bihar.

Reportedly, acting on a tip-off on Thursday, the Excise Department conducted a raid in Narmada Bagan area of Ward No. 46 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC). The operation revealed a warehouse containing a large quantity of spurious liquor and equipment for its production. Spurious liquor worth approximately ₹12.35 lakh was seized, along with a four-wheeler and a scooter used for smuggling.

According to excise department sources, officials seized 125 litters of fake foreign spirits, 35 litters of liquor smuggled from Sikkim and around 700 expensive glass bottles of foreign brands. Additionally, they also found plastic bottles, labels and other related items.
