Phansidewa, 07 December: A joint initiative of the Health Department and Hindustan Ekannabarti NGO, an awareness camp was held at Kadopani ground in Phansidewa on Saturday. The aim of the camp was to raise awareness about preventing teenage pregnancy and protecting the girl child.
Many prominent personalities including state Health Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb, Siliguri Mahakouma Parishad Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh and Hindustan Ekannabarti Sabhadhipati Papiya Ghosh attended the event.
Apart from educating adolescent girls, various items for cooking healthy food were also distributed to about 300 underprivileged families living in tea gardens. A tableau was inaugurated to raise awareness about Tuberculosis (TB).
