Gonda blast: 7 dead as two-storey building collapses following cylinder blast in UP

Seven people died and 14 were injured after the roof of a two-storey building collapsed due to a cylinder blast in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district.

The incident occurred when one of the families in the village was cooking.

As many as 14 people were trapped under the collapsed roof.

The villagers could rescue some of them and rushed them to the Public Health Centre in Nawabganj.

Gonda Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Mishra said, “14 people were trapped after the roof of the house collapsed. Seven people have died including three children and two women.”

“We received a call about a cylinder blast that made the roof collapse of [the] house,” Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Mishra told NDTV. “With the help of the police force and local people we started rescue operations.”

Videos from the blast site show huge amount of rubble. Police and local people are at the site to trace the missing person. Bulldozers are also at the spot to clear the ruins.
