In a major pre-Diwali operation, recently the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Siliguri Division uncovered a gold smuggling racket, seizing gold biscuits worth crores and arresting one individual. Actually the arrested accused has been identified as Gaurav Kumar Saha. Reportedly, acting on a tip-off, DRI officials actually stopped a suspicious individual on National Highway-27 in Jalpaiguri and recovered 19 gold biscuits weighing 2 kg 215 grams, valued at ₹1.72 crore.
As per DRI sources, the accused, Gaurav Kumar Saha, actually smuggled the gold from the Bangladesh-India border. In fact on Tuesday the accused has been presented in court as investigations continue to trace other possible associates. This is very sad incident and need to take it very seriously so that it gets control. If people find anything suspicious related with it then they should inform about it immediately. Also police need to take it very strictly and take necessary actions against it so that they make our society a safe place.
