A controversial poster of Goddess Kali smoking a cigarette has created a stir on the internet. Netizens have called out the makers and accused them of hurting their religious sentiments. Filmmaker Ashok Pandit was also one of them. He drew parallels between the poster and Nupur Sharma’s statement. He also said about the arrest of Leena Manimeklai, the director of the film.
A lawyer from Delhi on Monday filed a police complaint against director Leena Manimekalai over a controversial poster of her new documentary. The said the controversial poster was once shared on social media by Manimekalai on July 2. In the poster, Goddess Kali is shown smoking a cigarette.
This created a stir on social media with demands for the arrest of the director trending on Twitter.Jindal told IANS, “Director Devi Kali has hurt my religious sentiments by showing smoking which is extremely offensive and not appropriate in any way,”.
Demanding immediate registration of an FIR against the independent director, Jindal said such a deplorable film in reference to a Hindu goddess is highly offensive, brutal and hurts the sentiments and beliefs of the Hindu community.
