Siliguri, March 06: A 9-year-old girl died in a tragic road accident near Shahid Nagar Traffic Point at Raja Rammohan Roy Bridge under Bhakti Nagar Traffic. The deceased has been identified as Deepika Roy, a resident of Prakash Nagar Dada Bhai Colony, Ward No. 43 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC).
According to the information, on Thursday, a vehicle of the electricity department was going from the checkpost towards Raja Rammohan Roy Bridge, when an auto going in the same direction collided with it. While trying to overtake, the auto collided with the electricity department vehicle, due to which the passengers in it fell on the road.
Deepika Roy is also among the injured, who suffered serious injuries in this accident. She was taken to the hospital, but unfortunately she died during treatment.
On receiving the news, Bhakti Nagar Traffic Police and Bhakti Nagar police station personnel reached the spot and took both the vehicles into custody. The girl’s body has been sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem. Police have started investigating the incident.
